If you’ve spent any time on Instagram in the past few weeks, you would have noticed that braids are the new hair trend that is everywhere. From celebrities to fashion shows, to fashion bloggers — everyone is braiding to look edgy, chic, and beautiful. While many of the braided hairstyles we see on celebs are done by professionals, who we don’t have access to, it is not impossible to replicate some of them. And given that our latest celeb obsession, Janhvi Kapoor, also seems to love braids as much as we do, we thought we'd best take that mucho-needed braid-spiration from her! Here are five easy styles you can replicate at home, and look just like a star.
The Boho Braids
These are simple enough to replicate. Take thin locks of your hair and braid them, so that occasional, thin braids fall all over. This is great for a simple, boho look.
The Edgy Side Braid
This one has become a favourite with celebrities, both on screen and off. It’s easy to do, and gives you a certain badass look that goes with any outfit. Give yourself a deep side part, and with the help of a dab of your trusty hair gel, dutch braid on the smaller side. Once you reach past your ear, secure the braid with a couple of pins and brush through the other section to perfect the look.
The Punjabi Kudi Braid
A style of braid that many Indian moms, especially ones from Punjab, know how to make in a trice, this one is a classic. Also known as Boxer Braids, these would involve making double dutch braids right from the top of your head, and going all the way down. The perfect look for a no-fuss weekend.
The Mixed Braid
This one may look complicated, but is totally doable if you have some time to spare. You will have to start with a crown braid, branch out into a fishtail braid, and finally, end in one, thick braid. This look will go with casual and formal outfits, and will have everyone’s eyes glued to you!
The Braid Ponytail
This one is by far the easiest to do, and makes for a fun twist to a boring ponytail look. Just add a crown braid on one side of your head, and secure it at the back. Pull the rest of your hair into a tight ponytail, and you’re done!
With so much fashion inspo coming from one young lady, it’s safe to say Janhvi is well on her way to becoming a fashion icon.
