Get your Diwali party brewing with the sizzle of Koffee With Karan-inspired games

After what has been a rather exhausting year, finally, it is ‘that time of the year’ when you get to wear your hair down, put on your best dress, deck up your place, unapologetically hog on a thousand sweets, and most importantly, invite your friends and families over for a game night.
And when the holy trinity: Diwali, Indians, and a game night plan come together, it is most likely that the night is going to be memorable.

While cards and board games have been our best muses almost every Diwali, the Cosmopolitan team has a twisted idea for you. How about you play games inspired by our all-time favourite talk show, Koffee with Karan? We can’t predict your reaction, but we think it could make your party a total hit. Now that you’re convinced, here’s a list of KWK-inspired games you can play:

The imposter challenge

If you’ve scrolled through Instagram enough, there are chances that you might already know about this one. But the fact that Deepika and Ranveer played it too (might we add, the game segment was hilarious) should be enough for you to give it a try. The game is simple; for all you are required to do is draw a chit and grab a few pairs of headphones, as you will have music blasting in your ears. If you happen to be the imposter, you will have different music playing from the rest of the group. Once the music begins, you groove. Your goal is to not get caught and blend as smoothly as you can with the rest. That’s how you win.

The alphabet challenge or the sentence antakshari

While Antakshari is an Indian family's all-time favourite, the Sara- Ananya episode showed us how we could do it with a fun twist: a sentence antakshari. The rules are simple. In this challenge, the players are required to keep the conversation going, but in an alphabetical manner that goes from A to Z. However, the twist is that you will be given a category within which a conversation has to exist. So, get yourself a host and let the games begin.

Wreck-Tangle

The Sara-Ananya episode left us with some heavy game inspiration. And we’re loving it all. If your friend group has been tight for a few years now, the wreck-tangle game is definitely for you, for it will also help you understand how you perceive each other. To play the game, you will have to come up with a solid set of questions that answer the ‘who’s most likely to’ quotient. In order to answer them, you will have to give each other percentages. And that’s about it.

The Ellen Degeneres game

On season five of Koffee with Karan, we saw Alia and Shah Rukh play a rather hilarious game. While Karan admits that the game was first played on Ellen’s show, you can definitely play it with your friends for a good laughing riot. For this, you can keep some reading material handy, like a cookbook or a novel. The player is required to read the given material in the tone or situation they’ve been given. Now, just wait for the fun that follows.

Koffee bingo

Season seven of Koffee with Karan introduced us to an advanced version of ‘Never Have I Ever’. And we think it is a genius idea for a Diwali party, for it will let you in on all the secrets your friends/ family have been hiding from you. However, for this, you will have to make the quickest bingo chart beforehand, and your guests will have to circle the things they are guilty of doing from the bingo.
