The ultimate list of Christmas-themed TV episodes you should binge on

We've made it to the end of December, believe it or not, and it's time to take those final vacation days, wrap up all those last-minute gifts, and head home to friends and family. In preparation for all things good, jolly, and merry, we've put together a quick guide of the top Christmas and Hanukkah TV show episodes that have aired over the years! Grab a glass of eggnog (or hot chocolate, you do you!) and relax back—these episodes will not disappoint!

Friends, “The One with the Holiday Armadillo,” Season 7, Episode 10

friends

Phoebe spends much of this episode sending Joey gifts in order to encourage Rachel to leave his house and move back in with her instead (we can STILL hear the loud drums and feel the creepy tarantula) —and sure, it reaches that incredibly funny-but-completely-plausible level that only Friends can achieve. But the real fun starts when Ross shows up as a “Holiday Armadillo” and walks around flapping his tail, while Monica is obviously baffled by why instead of Santa, she has a human walking around dressed like an insect on Christmas. Meanwhile, Chandler shows up dressed as Santa, followed by Joey, dressed as…Superman! That’s a scene neither we nor Monica ever expected to witness!

The Office, “Christmas Party,” Season 2, Episode 10

office

This episode of The Office revolves mostly around the annual Secret Santa exchange party, which swiftly finds its way into a game of Yankee Swap in which you can steal someone else's favourite gift. Expect some Pam-Jim conflict (Dwight being Dwight, he interferes with Jim's plans to woo her again) and for things to degenerate into one of the more frenzied drunken workplace parties in recent memory (yes, we’re referring to Michael buying his employees Vodka, Kelly kissing DWIGHT and Meredith flashing Michael). Yup, we’re still recovering from the chaos.

Gossip Girl, “Roman Holiday,” Season 1, Episode 11

GG

Blair's father has returned, and he has a boyfriend whom Blair clearly hates (just like her dislike of most people). She tries everything she can to sabotage her father, but she eventually succumbs to the Christmas spirit and celebrates with them in the way that only Waldorfs can!

Orange Is the New Black, “Can’t Fix Crazy,” Season 1, Episode 13

OITNB

This episode is all about Christmas, yet the season finale also features Piper having to choose between marrying Larry and staying with Alex. Piper explains she loves Alex too but she doesn’t have the balls to freefall through life with her (The enemy to lovers trope we didn’t know we needed)! We see the girls try to understand what comes next for each of them through a Christmas pageant in prison, a Hanukkah party at Larry's parents, and a fairly tense Secret Santa process that takes the cast in and out of the kitchen—all culminating in one of the most memorable scenes in recent memory involving Pennsatucky, Piper, and a screwdriver.

Seinfeld, “The Strike,” Season 9, Episode 10

SEINFELD

The origins of 'Festivus,' the holiday for the rest of us! Though the episode concludes with the gang gathered around the table for Festivus celebrations with George's parents, the rest of the show is focused on three major themes: Kramer's amusing return to work at H&H Bagels (the 12-year strike has finally ended), Elaine pursuing a man she called "Denim Vest" throughout the city for a free sandwich (typical Elaine), and George caught in the act of faking Christmas gifts for his coworkers. It's difficult to get more in the spirit than that.

The O.C., “The Best Chrismukkah Ever,” Season 1, Episode 13

OC

It's difficult to recall a time when Chrismukkah wasn't a widespread term for holiday celebrations, but it all started with this episode of The O.C. It's a must-see not only for the history lesson, but also for some peak O.C. drama—this is the episode when Seth must finally choose between Summer and Anna, and Marissa meets Oliver Trask for the first time (Oo are thongs about to get hot in here?!)

The Sopranos, "To Save Us All from Satan's Power," Season 3, Episode 10

SOPRANOS

The Sopranos isn't exactly a feel-good show, but it understands how to make a statement. In this episode, the Sopranos are seen receiving gifts on Christmas morning, much like any other family, when older daughter Meadow's boyfriend Jackie arrives with gifts and apologies. Tony and Jackie's animosity is palpable, but Tony must seem to enjoy Jackie's present of a Big Mouth Billy Bass. Come for the family drama, but stay for the scene in which a man is hurled through a mall Christmas display glass. (We know you enjoy a hurling scene)

The Mindy Project, "Christmas Party Sex Trap," Season 2, Episode 11

MINDY

An alumnus of The Office, Mindy Kaling is a well-known aficionado of Christmas episodes, having written some of the best in the office comedy genre, so it's no wonder that her own show stands out when it comes to holiday specials (DUH!). In this episode, narcissistic doctor Mindy plots to seduce an attractive lawyer who works in her building, even planning a romantic "Santa Baby" cover. (Of course, because it's TV, Maria Menounos appears as herself and does the cover, exposing Mindy.)
