Celebrities who dug through fashion archives and wore vintage gowns

Over the last few years, vintage fashion has taken centre stage with celebrities digging into archives and re-wearing iterations of some iconic outfits on all the major red carpets. These celebrities are proving that well-designed and curated outfits can truly stand the test of time. This rise in pre-loved fashion amongst our favourite celebrities may have come from the growing awareness of the impact the fashion industry has had on the environment and we're all for these sustainable choices. In fact, some celebrities like Zendaya, Bella Hadid or even Kylie Jenner have made archival fashion their style staple.  

We scoured social media and pulled out a few instances of celebrities who chose to walk red carpets in vintage gowns. From Jennifer Aniston in a vintage Christian Dior from her personal collection to Zendaya in a vintage Versace gown, keep scrolling to see our favourite picks. 

Zendaya  

Zendaya is known to make standout vintage fashion moments. Most recently, the Euphoria actor wore a green and black Versace couture gown from spring/summer 2002 to the NAACP Image Awards that took place in February 2023. 

Kendall Jenner 

Kendall Jenner attended the Vanity Fair Oscar Party this year wearing an iteration of a Jean Paul Gaultier dress from the spring/summer 2008 haute couture collection. 

Bella Hadid  

In 2021, Bella Hadid walked the Cannes Film Festival red carpet wearing a vintage Jean Paul Gaultier dress. This reworked look is from the famed designer’s haute couture spring/summer 2002 collection. 

Kylie Jenner  

To celebrate the 2022 CFDA,  fashion award, Kylie Jenner chose a Thierry Mugler design that dates back to 1999. 

Kim Kardashian   

Kim Kardashian has a penchant for reaching into fashion archives and pulling out iterations of some of the most iconic outfits. She made headlines all around the world when she wore Marilyn Monroe's famed sheer dress from 1962 to the Met Gala in 2022. However, after the event, there were rumours circulating about how Kardashian damaged the outfit. Yikes. 

Jennifer Aniston 

For the 26th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards in 2020, the Friends star chose a vintage Christian Dior by John Galliano white cut dress. This stunning outfit, which Aniston was wearing during her viral interaction with her ex-husband Brad Pitt, is from her personal collection. 

Cardi B 

In 2021, just a few months after giving birth to her second child, Cardi B returned to the red carpet at the Paris Fashion Week to attend the opening of the 'Thierry Mugler: Couturissime'. For the occasion, Cardi B chose an OTT design from Mugler’s AW95 collection.
