Katrina Kaif Pays Tribute to Her Mother's British Heritage in This Pre-Wedding Photoshoot

The past week has been one of love, laughter, and happily ever after. Ever since the news about Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal's rumoured nuptials broke, the internet went into a frenzy—and, for all the right reasons. Over the last few days, the dynamic duo has been offering doses of love, splashed across social media by periodically releasing snippets from their dreamlike affair in Rajasthan.

Just a few hours ago, the couple shared another glimpse from one of their pre-wedding ceremonies; surreal, to say the least. After donning lehenga after lehenga for the functions up until now, Katrina broke the monotony by opting for a resplendent sari, a Sabyasachi creation. The actor paid tribute to her mother’s British heritage by opting for a vintage-inspired couture sari with a trailing veil.

Katrina Kaif's mother, Suzanne Turquotte, is an English lawyer and charity worker by profession, residing in London, the capital of England and the United Kingdom. Her father, Mohammed Kaif, is a British businessman of Kashmiri descent who moved to the United States of America after divorcing her mother. The actor spent the first few years of her life in London—along with her seven siblings; 6 sisters and 1 brother—before she moved to India to pursue a career in the film industry.

In the words of the master couturier, "Silhouetted like a white wedding gown, the pastel tulle sari was embellished with hand-cut English flowers, embroidered by craftswomen from Bengal, and liberally sprinkled with semi-precious gems and crystals. The ensemble took 40 artisans over 1800 hours to handcraft." The beautiful bride-to-be accessorised her ensemble with a statement uncut diamond choker detailed with opals and pale Russian emeralds and matching earrings, all from Sabyasachi's Heritage jewellery collection.

Her dashing groom complemented her by throwing on a Bangalore silk-embroidered sherwani and matching churidar with Sabyasachi gold plated Bengal Tiger buttons. In keeping with the Western tradition, Katrina also held a bridal bouquet—a practice that dates to antiquity—featuring white chrysanthemums, baby's breath, tuberose, and other exotic flowers. If you notice, the actor has painstakingly opted for an assortment of flowers that pair well with her Sabyasachi attire.

According to historical evidence, the flowers in a bridal bouquet symbolise a new beginning and bring the hope of fertility, happiness, and fidelity. While a concept seeped in tradition, flower symbolism may not stand true in today's day. The bouquet has grown to become an accessory, a gorgeous accompaniment that ties the bridal ensemble with the décor, theme, and surroundings.

Heartiest congratulations to the lovebirds!
