Ever since the Barbie press tour kicked off last year, we've become pretty accustomed to seeing at least one hot pink or actual doll-inspired look on the red carpet at every major Hollywood event. Usually it's courtesy of Margot Robbie, whose tour wardrobe and designer replicas of iconic Barbie looks have been the stuff of actual legend, but at the 2024 Grammys, it was Billie Eilish who repped the hit film, not once but twice in the same night.
The 22-year-old singer arrived at the awards ceremony in Los Angeles wearing a custom ensemble by Willy Chavarria made up of an oversized white shirt, black silk tie, baggy trousers and a varsity-style jacket with pink sleeves and 'Barbie' embroidered onto the chest. So far, so classic Billie, and the Barbie shout-out makes total sense since she had an incredible FIVE Grammy nominations for her song "What Was I Made For?" that was in Greta Gerwig's hit film.
But it was Eilish's second Barbie-inspired outfit of the night that really got us excited... As the singer took to the stage to perform, she wore a super chic pink and green ensemble that might look a little familiar. Yep, Barbie doll aficionados will recognise Eilish's outfit as an almost exact replica of the 1965 Poodle Parade Barbie. Step aside, Margot! There's a new vintage doll-inspired dresser in town, and she's absolutely killing it.
Eilish's posted a pic of the original doll's look on her Instagram just a few hours before stepping out in almost the exact same thing: an olive-green midi dress, pink roll-neck, green-and-white check coat with contrast pink piping, cat-eye sunglasses, green stilettos and a pink silk headscarf. So chic, right?
BRB, just starting a petition for Eilish's to wear more vintage Barbie looks this awards season!
