Bella Hadid has opened up about suffering with Lyme disease, which she contracted in 2012, telling fans about the many impacts the condition has on her.

Recalling how a recent root canal surgery resulted in an infection in her jaw, Hadid explained in a TikTok video that she was left looking "sick as a dog" when her face became covered in "lesions" due to the course of antibiotics she was taking.

"You can only wonder why my face changes," she wrote in the TikTok, adding: "That’s why I hate looking in the mirror or taking pictures especially lately, truly wanting to throw up at the sight of myself constantly."

Hadid went on to admit that it's been "hard" in her profession to keep up while feeling and looking "sick like this".

"If you look back at work pictures from the past eight years you can tell the difference between me when my Lyme flares up and me when I’m healthy," she continued. "She’s a different girl. I feel so bad for her."

"This is me on a decent day by the way," the model added. "I would never be able to make one of these videos if I was at work having a flare up, or not feeling safe/calm in my environment."

Hadid ended the TikTok by telling fans that she's grateful for their support, and for their eagerness to learn more about her health condition. "Thank you for watching this and knowing a little more about me that is a huge part of my everyday life," she told them. "It means more to me than you even know and I feel closer to you guys now."
