Janhvi Kapoor and Sara Ali Khan Reveal the Very Relatable Origin Story of Their Friendship

For most of us, Koffee With Karan is a show we’ve grown up with. We might not love it, we definitely do not hate it, but no matter what, we just can’t ignore it. It’s what we turn to on a rainy afternoon when we want to escape our drama and step into the glamorous lives of Bollywood’s elite. Even if that means we’ve to be flies on the wall. And if the first episode with Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh was any indication, this season is more entertaining than its predecessors.

In the second episode that drops today, Karan Johar invited Janhvi Kapoor and Sara Ali Khan to the sacred coffee couch. The chemistry between the two young actresses had the same vibe Deepika Padukone and Sonam Kapoor’s episode had way back in season 3. Light, engaging and full of little Bollywood Easter eggs that we wouldn’t have known if it weren’t for KJo’s show.

In a segment, Janhvi and Sara talked about how they became fast friends while they were on a trip to Goa. They were neighbours with a mutual friend who brought the two together. Once they got to talking, they spoke all night. We all know how nights like those can seal a friendship, don’t we? 

Janhvi said, “We were neighbours in Goa and we had a common friend. Then one day we started talking. We ended up talking till 8 AM in the morning.” To this Sara added that their conversation had a very impromptu beginning and they spoke about their escapades in Goa, their families, work, travel experiences and all their shared interests. Janhvi also gave us a glimpse into their spontaneous friendship through an anecdote from their trip to Disneyland. She said, “She broke every line. I kept thinking ‘she is so cool’! I would never have been able to do that. Because of her, I did not even have to wait. It was the best trip ever!"

We all have those girlfriends that just bring out an unexpected side to us. And it seems like that’s the kind of comfortable and chill friendship Janhvi and Sara share. We’re excited to see if they turn into the next Bollywood BFFs.
