“Acting actually happened to me in phases...three phases, to be precise. First was when I was about 20, and someone told me I can’t be an actor. So I got on my bike and came to Mumbai to be an actor. The second time I wanted to be an actor was when the television industry had ‘banned’ me. I was like, ‘Okay, so what’s the next the step? Movies!’. And the third was when I returned from the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute, New York, and someone told me I didn’t have a good face, or good hair, or good clothes, or even good pictures. So I was like, ‘Okay, now I’m definitely going to make it!’. There was never a Plan B. In fact, my Plan B was to go back to Plan A...I had always wanted to be an actor! When I’m not working, I’m actually quite chilled. You’ll always find me in my trackpants and tees, spending time with my loved ones, dogs...doing regular stuff.”
