The Hair Colour Trends for 2021 That You Need to Copy ASAP

The year that just went by was a lot different from what we are used to. Though visits to the salon plummeted significantly, hair colour experimentations at home continued to be big. Anushree Basu, National Training Head, Revlon India, reveals that ever since the Covid-19 virus broke out, more and more people prefer to colour their hair at home. “Nothing like a hair transformation to work wonders on one’s self-esteem. While going to a salon to get hair colouring done still seems like a risky feat to achieve, boxed hair colours are just one click away from offering you quick and easy fixes right at the comfort of your home,” she adds. 

Celebrity Instagram feeds bear a testimony to this fact. We saw our favourite celebrities and influencers trying all sorts of hair colour in the lockdown. From Dua Lipa’s bleach blonde bangs and then chunky face-framing pink highlights to Hilary Duff’s bright blue all-over look, to brunette Kaia Gerber debuting platinum blonde hair, there was no dearth of inspiration. But what colour will suit Indian skin tone? We asked Anushree Basu, National Training Head, Revlon India for answers. She zeroes in on colours that will look good on Indian skin tone and will be big this year.

Going darker 

Naysayers might call it monotonous, but darker hues in blacks and browns bring out the depth and add more dimension to your mane giving it a mystic, ethereal look. If rocking salt and pepper look is not your scene, then you might just discover a new found love for your hair with colors like inky black and deep brown.

Deep mahogany 

Bored of your natural hair color but you don’t want to go for an extreme transformation? Try shades like deep mahogany brown. “It is an intense dark color with reddish and brownish undertones that show up brilliantly when it catches light,” explains Anushree.

Cashewnut brown balayage 

As far as hair color trends go, balayage has reigned supreme for years. “This timeless technique has crept its way back into the best hair salons and definitely one of the most captivating hair colour trends of 2021 as one of the most popular and oft-requested styles,” says Anushree.

Rooted-blonde hair colour 

You will see a lot of rooted blonde hair in 2021. It will not only look good on you but will delay your root touch up sesh at the salon. “Once you get blonde hair colour, it requires low maintenance than other colours,” says Anushree.
