From Deepika Padukone's striped,
sequinned drape to R. Madhavan's
embellished tuxedo—here's a roundup
of all the glitz, glamour, and star-power
on day 1 at Cannes.
Featuring a printed Mysore silk shirt with a
digital rendering of hand-painted vintage flora,
inspired by Company paintings and made by
the Sabyasachi Art Foundation, Deepika’s
ensemble highlighted Sabyasachi monogram
buttons, paired with pleated wool trousers.
Later on, the celebrity slipped into the Bengal
Tiger couture sari conceptualised by Sabyasachi
as part of the iconic Aakash Tara collection that
celebrates heritage Indian crafts and techniques
through a modern lens. The stripes were block
printed and hand embroidered by some of India’s
finest craftspeople at the Sabyasachi atelier.
On the day, Urvashi Rautela sported
an off-shoulder Tony Ward couture
gown featuring flattering ruffle details,
with jewels by Messika jewellery.
On day 1 on the red carpet, R. Madhavan
wore a crisp tuxedo and bow-tie by Manish
Malhotra. He accessorised his dapper look
with shoes from Dolce and Gabbana.
For the first look, Tamannaah Bhatia turned
heads in a pastel green pantsuit paired with
a lavender body suit and gold-plated hoops
from Misho designs; a smokey, dusty pink
lid completed the look.
For her second look, she opted for Indian
designer duo Gauri and Nainika—a qrgku
and white gown with a long trail and
diamond danglers from Jaipur Gems
brought the statement look together.
