Back in caveman days we communicated by grunting, poking and maybe even the odd wink. Then came spoken word, and the world thought nothing would ever top that. But before we knew it emojis had been invented and we'd given up on sending messages using the written word all together.
But that's not enough for WhatsApp users apparently. We need more.
We need GIFS.
We've been dropping hints to those guys at WhatsApp for a pretty long time now, but luckily they've finally taken noticed and announced that GIFs are coming!
Huzzah!

Technically, the snazzy new feature hasn't been officially announced yet, but the crew over at @WABetaInfo, which follows changes in the messaging app, have noticed the update in a brand new version.

It also reports that in the new version, GIFs will auto-play for the first time rather than being converted to small videos. But there's still no hint that there'll be a built-in GIF library like there is on Twitter and Facebook Messenger.
So are you excited about the news that we may be able to do away with talking/writing words to each other all together in the not-so-distant future?
