When you hear the phrase ‘vanilla sex’, what comes to your mind? If you think of sex that is lacklustre or bland, don't worry you're not alone. Although a common assumption, this could not be further from the truth. In the most basic sense, vanilla sex is plain and conventional; it’s without any sharp twists or kinkiness, which is probably why it gets a bad rep. There is a general notion that sex that isn’t wild and performative is uninteresting and not as pleasurable. The fact of the matter is, there is no one right way to have sex. Whether you enjoy experimenting and pushing your sexual boundaries with some S&M or you prefer to stick to the tried-and-tested missionary, sex is based purely on personal preference. So, shaming those who would keep things between the sheets things simple rather than dip their toes into the world of kink seems silly. Sure, vanilla is not the most exciting flavour but you know exactly what you’re going to get and it is usually very satisfying. So what's wrong with that?

Here are five zodiac signs that prefer vanilla sex. And no, this doesn’t mean they won’t take charge and show you a good time in their own tender way!

Taurus  

Governed by Venus—the planet of love—Taurians are passionate, sensual, and romantic. Sex with them is an experience and not just a mere romp in the sheets. People born under this sign need to create a moment with scented candles, dimmed lights, and some mood music. Hence, something about leather whips and hair-pulling just doesn’t sit well with them. This Earth sign is also driven by their need to be comfortable and cosy. So, if presented with a choice between tying their partner up or having spooning sex, they will (more often than not) opt for the latter.

One of the most emotional signs in the Zodiac, Cancerians are natural caregivers. For most of them, sex is not impulsive, overly erotic, or about getting down and dirty whenever and however. They require a strong connection, passion, oodles of intimacy, eye contact, and cuddles. They like to stick to positions that let them feel as close to their partner as possible, both, emotionally and physically. This doesn’t mean they aren’t lionesses in bed. Once they lower their walls, their partners are in for a treat. It’s just not necessarily an excessively kinky treat.

Capricorn   

The last Earth sign of the Zodiac, Capricorns are known to be resilient, practical, and ambitious. They believe in keeping things simple and prefer not to experiment with things in the bedroom. By their logic, if something is working right, why change it? They like staying in their comfort zone rather than going wild between the sheets. And they aren’t wrong. Vanilla sex gets an unfair rep for being boring but at the end of the day, it gets you from point A to point O, right?  

Aquarians are clever, analytical, and confident. However, even though they have a strong sex drive, they don’t always prioritise sex in their relationships. They consider witty banter and intellectual debates as foreplay and so when it comes down to it, they prefer sticking to the moves they know are fun and have perfected as opposed to something new and kinky. 

Virgo  

Virgos strive for perfection in whatever they do, including their sex life. More often than not, they prefer sticking to moves they know will pay off rather than experimenting with ones that are either risky or too out of the box. It’s not that they aren’t confident, they can take charge and leave you gasping (or moaning), but they would rather perform positions that they’ve perfected.
