Things I learned from real-life witches

If I tell you that witches are real, you might be tempted to dismiss the idea and attribute it all to ‘pop culture,’ which has certainly contributed to the misconceptions. After all, the idea that Hermione Granger exists in real life seems a) too good to be true and b) not fitting with the reality we live in. While your scepticism is understandable, discussions on the internet might make you question everything. Believe it or not, a Reddit thread has clarified a lot for me. But let’s start from the very beginning.

Are witches even real?

The simple answer to this question is, yes, they are. And no, they don’t worship Satan, nor do they do bad things to others, wear black clothes, or are part of a cult, as pop culture might have convinced you to believe. What they do is heal people—their hearts, minds, and auras. These are people who have a stronger intuition and practice energy healing activities like Reiki, tarot reading, meditation, scrying, pendulums, manifestation, and more. They are spiritual beings who are aware of their healing spirit and know how to channel it.

“I consider myself a secular witch and don’t do any deity worship or work, but carving out ritual that celebrates myself, self love, and the world around me has brought me back the peace that many people find in religion,” said a Reddit user. Another user shares, “I sought control while in a relationship with an alcoholic, and when my sister mentioned putting intention into the universe, it resonated with me. This led me to explore witchcraft, particularly green witchcraft, which aligns with my love for gardening and houseplants. For me, witchcraft now symbolises self-love and self-care.”

Witchcraft in today’s modern world represents the purest of intentions and provides strength to anyone who needs it. Books like Empowerment Through Witchcraft: A Wiccan Guide for the Magickal Practitioner, Psychic Witch, and Buckland's Complete Book of Witchcraft are a few that could offer more insight. From what we can tell you, it’s something people in today’s world need—hope, good faith, healing, and a more fulfilling purpose in life.

Whether you are a witch or not, some of these practices can heal you, especially if you are going through a hard time, feeling lost, or trying to find your spiritual path. Before you know it, these things could be life-changing for you, and we think you should give them a shot. Below are a few things we learnt from real-life witches that you should try out too.

Following the moon cycle

Actually, following the moon cycle is not only a spiritual practice but can also improve your mental health. Allow me to explain how. According to ancient wisdom, each moon phase is associated with a particular type of energy for the week, and they are all distinct. For instance, the new moon signifies a time for planning something new, such as a business deal or a new hobby you want to learn. As the moon waxes, you actively work on the project, taking concrete steps and expanding your efforts. When the full moon arrives, you review your progress, reflect on successes and challenges, and address any issues or emotional blocks that arise.

During the waning moon, you wrap up any remaining tasks, make final adjustments, and prepare for the next cycle of growth. By syncing your actions with the moon phases, you can harness its energy to set yourself up for significant personal growth.

Positive affirmations

Believe it or not, this is a practice that many swear by because it’s all about self-healing. You can (and should) do this by saying affirmations to yourself. Here’s how: either say the affirmations out loud or write them down in the present tense. For example, “I am a successful and loving woman” or “I am a confident woman,” depending on what you are trying to manifest in your life. You can also visualise the life you want in your mind as you meditate. Try doing this and watch how your life changes for the better.

Taking salt water baths

They believe that taking saltwater baths can cleanse negative energy from your body. For example, if you've had a challenging day, a saltwater bath might help you feel better. You can also add essential oils or herbs, like rosemary, to enhance relaxation, promote healing, and improve your overall well-being. It's considered a form of self-care that you should indulge in.

Wearing crystals

As you know, crystals are known for their healing properties, and wearing them can significantly impact your life. Crystals are believed to carry different energetic properties that can support various aspects of your life, such as healing, protection, and empowerment. Using them can strengthen your intentions and bring positive energy into your environment. To find the one that suits you best, we suggest speaking to a healer who can help you.

Practice mindful meditation

Visualisation is one of their greatest tools, and it is facilitated through meditation. This practice helps calm the mind, improve focus, and connect with both your inner self and the natural world. Over time, you’ll find that meditation brings clarity and aids in stress management, ultimately supporting you in building your dream life.
