Here are five films to watch if you loved watching 'Anyone But You'

Remember how everyone swooned over the adorable clash of personalities when Anyone But You released on Netflix? The movie revolves around Bea (Sydney Sweeney), a cheerful optimist, and Ben (Glen Powell), a realist. Bea's sunny outlook contrasts sharply with Ben's practical, often pessimistic view. They clash in humorous and heartwarming ways, discovering unexpected chemistry. Despite their differences, they bring out the best in each other, proving that opposites really do attract.

If you're a fan of this classic trope and often find yourself rooting for the bubbly optimist to win over their grumpy counterpart, grab your popcorn and get ready for a movie marathon! We've curated a list of films that will make you laugh, cry, and fall in love with this pairing all over again.

Jab We Met (2007)

This is one of those movies that both, millennials and Gen Z share a love for. The film centres on the vivacious Geet (Kareena Kapoor) and the more gloomy counterpart, Aditya (Shahid Kapoor) who cross paths after their chance encounter on a train. While Geet’s zest for life breaks down Aditya’s walls—helping him rediscover his purpose in life—Aditya’s stability becomes Geet’s anchor when her own life takes an unexpected turn. Their journey from strangers to soulmates is a perfect example of how a sunshine personality can melt even the grumpiest of hearts. The chemistry between Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor is simply magical, making Jab We Met a timeless romantic classic.

Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu (2012)

Riana (Kareena Kapoor) is a carefree and spirited hairstylist who shakes up the life of Rahul (Imran Khan), an uptight, socially awkward architect living under the shadow of his overbearing parents. After a wild night in Las Vegas, they wake up married to each other. As they spend time together waiting for their annulment, Riana’s carefree attitude starts to rub off on Rahul. Her spontaneity challenges his cautious-rigid world, helping him stand up for himself and embrace life’s uncertainties. Rahul learns to loosen up, have fun, and make his own choices.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008)

In this comedic yet heartfelt film, Peter (Jason Segel), a depressed and heartbroken composer, travels to Hawaii to escape his ex-girlfriend. There, he meets Rachel (Mila Kunis), an easygoing hotel receptionist. At first, Peter is wallowing in his misery, but Rachel’s cheerful nature and kind heart slowly begin to lift his spirits. She encourages him to try new things and helps him rediscover his passion for music. As they spend time together, Peter learns to laugh again and opens himself up to new possibilities. She makes him realise that there is a life after a heartbreak. With its hilarious antics and memorable one-liners, Forgetting Sarah Marshall will have you laughing from start to finish.

Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (2011)

This Bollywood road trip film features Laila (Katrina Kaif), a free-spirited diving instructor, who meets Arjun (Hrithik Roshan)  a workaholic financial investment banker on a bachelor trip with his friends. Laila’s adventurous nature helps Arjun break free from his rigid-work-centred approach to life. She teaches him to embrace the present moment, take risks, and find pleasure in the simplest of things. Through adventures like deep-sea diving and the famous La Tomatina festival, he realises the true meaning of YOLO. With stunning locations, memorable songs, and heartwarming moments, it’s a perfect mix of romance, comedy, and life lessons.

10 Things I Hate About You (1999)

Cameron (Joseph Gordan) is the new kid at school and has a big crush on Bianca. But there’s a problem: Bianca can’t date unless her grumpy older sister, Kat, does. Kat Stratford (Julia Stiles) is the epitome of a grumpy character. She’s intelligent, fierce, and unapologetically herself, but she’s also angry at the world, particularly at the superficiality of high school life. As Cameron schemes to win over Bianca, his upbeat nature and persistence eventually influence Kat, leading to something super duper unpredictable. (No spoilers here, hush).

These films are perfect for anyone who loves seeing the magic that happens when opposites attract. Get ready for a rollercoaster of emotions as you watch these sunshine x grumpy pairings light up the screen! Happy weekend-ing!
