Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s fairytale romance has felt like a stint from her ‘Enchanted’ music video. It’s dreamy, it’s romantic, and we can’t help but melt at just how adorable they are. From Swift cheering Kelce on at Kansas City Chiefs games to him showing up for her concerts. I mean how can we forget Swift’s adorable happy run when she spotted him backstage after her show in Argentina? And their many public appearances *heart eyes*. While we love watching these mini shots of them being happy in love, just imagine what it would be like watching their love story on screen. Well, that’s exactly what Lifetime will be doing.
Lifetime, an American entertainment platform, announced its holiday line-up—as it does every year—last week, which included Christmas in the Spotlight. The film centres on the budding romance between a pop star and a professional football player. Sound familiar? That’s right, the film is inspired by Swift and Kelce’s real-life fairytale romance—not officially based on the couple—but we’re still excited nonetheless.
Set to premiere on November 23, 2024, the film stars Jessica Lord and Laith Wallschleger as the power couple. Lord plays Drew, the pop star who, despite her countless romantic songs, just cannot seem to find her Mr Right. Between recordings, shows, and well, her fame, the pop star hardly has time to date. But all of that changes when she meets Drew, a professional football player who attends her show with his niece. And as with any romance film, the duo instantly hit it off. But is it real or just for show? With their conflicting schedules and public scrutiny, can they really make it work? They have until the end of the holiday season to decide. And we, cannot wait to find out!
The platform has made it clear that the film is not a retelling of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s romance; just an inspired depiction of it. But whether or not the film is meant as a direct nod to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, fans are excited to see how this fictionalised version of their love story plays out!
