Before you turn your life upside down, think this through very carefully. If you’re just fascinated by how they portray gypsies in novels and movies, think again. Make sure this is what you truly desire.

Once sure, quit worrying about all the things that can go wrong. Take a leap of faith. This is the first step towards being a modern-day nomad— to let go of your fears and embrace life as it comes.

 

Get used to the minimalistic life

Basically, say bye to the hundred pairs of shoes and handbags that you own! Learn to lead a simple life. This doesn’t mean you live in a cave, wearing dry leaves, but that you understand there’s more to life than materialism.

 

Utilise technology

You don’t need to throw your phone and laptop away. It’s not impossible, if that’s your intention at all. Unless you have millions saved up, it’s best that you maintain an active digital presence and be tech savvy. It’ll also allow you to work online and earn a living. But do limit the use of social media, so it doesn’t get in the way of your new, nomadic life.

 

Find a job that lets you work remotely

While you can take up temp jobs wherever you decide to wander off to, it’s always a good idea to have a stable source of income. These days, organisations are pretty open to offering a flexible work environment to the employees. You can look at professions like online marketing, designing, writing/editing, accounting, data entry, among others.

 

Make connections

Despite all the free-spiritedness, you can’t  isolate yourself from the rest of the world. You shouldn’t. Everywhere you go, make connections and create memories. Leave a piece of you with everyone you meet. Don’t be afraid! The world’s waiting for you!
