Mumbai during the monsoon is a magical escape, even more so when you have a regency-style high tea with Cosmopolitan India at The Table, Colaba. A celebrated culinary gem in Mumbai, The Table opened its doors to actors, influencers, and some of the coolest creative people in the industry for a classic English high tea.
Renowned for being listed among the 50 best restaurants in Asia, The Table in Colaba, founded by Jay Yousuf and Gauri Devidayal, surely lives up to its reputation. The relaxed setting had an air of sophistication to it. The dark wooden aesthetic, with hand-chiselled stone floor and wide arches, seamlessly blended with the event's regency theme, transporting guests to an enchanting era from the past.
Cosmopolitan India's high tea unfolded on the spacious floor above the bar. The space transformed into an enchanting English tearoom with floral regency decor done by To The Aisle—an experiential wedding design company. The team brought out the regency aesthetic of the era with enchanting floral decor spread across the section, especially the 20-foot-long Burma teak table, which allowed for an intriguing exchange between our guests. Details such as delicate china cups and cake stands, pearl jars, floral bouquets, and blush pink ribbons worked incredibly well with each other, adding a graceful charm to the evening.
Adding to the charm of the venue, our dear guests brought out the theme of the high tea dressed in stunning ball gowns, lace corsets, and sharp, tailored button-downs. Between conversations on their shared passion for creativity, the guests were treated to an exceptional spread of pastries, viennoiseries, and of course, sweet teas. Mini cinnamon rolls and pain au chocolat served alongside refreshments like rose oolong tea, and the classic English breakfast tea marked the beginning of a memorable evening. Inspired by the San Franciscan cooking style, The Table showcased its culinary prowess through delights like avocado crostino, duck liver mousse, and porcini mushrooms.
Alongside the sweet teas and coffee, guests were also treated to a refreshing menu of cocktails prepared with the beloved tonic water brand Beefeater. All-time classic, pink lady, and white negroni were among the favourite cocktails of the evening.
The English-style high tea was a dynamic exchange of thoughts, views, and creativity. Dynamic personalities like Moses Koul, Sherry Shroff, Sahil Salathia, Prableen Kaur, and Rita Jain brought excitement through their avante-grade outfits, dazzling in layered pearl necklaces and princess-like hairstyles. The afternoon was full of laughter, cheers, and the clinking of glasses, marking the high-tea afternoon as an unforgettable event in the heart of Mumbai.
