The 27-year-old Olympic gold medalist, Tom Daley became a global sensation when he was spotted knitting a purple “doggy jumper” while watching the he women’s 3-metre springboard final on August 1. He was back on the stands with his needles and yarn again on August 2, this time he was seen knitting a union flag. He later revealed that the flag was part of a cardigan, which he has now finished.
The diver goes on to prove that he is a fast knitter too. Tom revealed the final look of the cardigan on social media asking for opinions from his fans. The cardigan says Tokyo in Japanese in the front, has GBR and a Union Jack knitted on the sleeves and the big Team GB plus the Olympic rings knitted on the back The diver shared a video of the jumper on his knitting Instagram account, Made With Love by Tom Daley.
"When I got to Tokyo, I wanted to make something that would remind me of the Olympics to look back on in the future. I designed a pattern for the colour work that would signify everything about these games," the Olympian wrote. "On the back I went for a classic @teamgb logo, the shoulders have a flag and GBR on them. For the front I wanted to keep it simple and I tried my best to embroider TOKYO in Japanese!”
