Birkenstock’s show at Lakmé Fashion Week X FDCI 2023, a remarkable statement of COMFORT & STYLE

Lakmé Fashion Week 2023 in partnership with FDCI recently concluded in New Delhi, with celebrated designers and brands showcasing their latest collections. This season, a noteworthy moment was when the coveted German footwear brand Birkenstock presented their show—‘Grounded in Nature,’ with designer duo Shivan & Narresh.

Athiya Shetty opened the show wearing the classic Birkenstock Arizona sandals in silver-grey paired with an ombré sarong-style dress while Rana Daggubati closed the show in a pair of the green Birkenstock Arizona sandals worn with the Aurorays print jumper, sheer jacket, and waved trousers. 

The Birkenstock show featured the brand’s iconic silhouettes from their Fall/Winter 2023 collection, which were complemented by Shivan & Narresh’s Suomi Series. Birkenstock’s purpose to create an experience of ‘walking as nature intended’, with its unique footbed, the show was all about spotlighting nature and its many elements. Latest interpretations of Birkenstock’s classic designs that have stood the test of time, and have become a fashion statement today, made the fashion presentation one to bookmark.

Showing a vibe of nature’s tranquility, the ambience of the show was an artistic rendition of a Finnish Sauna, which was shaped as the Birkenstock footbed & elevated seating for the audience that captured the wholesome autumn hues from Birkenstock’s Fall/Winter 2023 colourways.

The outfits blending gorgeously with Birkenstock’s footwear featured three signature prints—Saun, Leviland, and Aurorays. The unabashed prints paired with asymmetrical silhouettes and a bright colour palette perfectly encapsulated the essence of Finland and the country’s love for the outdoors. The Finnish connection also finds a nod through the introduction of knitted socks by the brand, putting a special emphasis on feet in Finnish culture. 

The show also witnessed the exhibit of Birkenstock’s latest Corduroy collection, which marries the timeless charm of the fabric with some of the brand’s most iconic designs—from Arizona to Kyoto. Arizona, Madrid and Gizeh designs were given a metallic makeover through the High-Shine range that features glossy textures. 

The Papillio collection, where the Birkenstock sandal gets a lift through added cushioning, also made an appearance in all-new colours.
