We know Varun Dhawan as the actor and the entertainer extraordinaire that he is—from playing the stoic Dan in October to the charismatic Rohan Nanda in Student of the Year, he’s proved his range through a multitude of roles. Cosmopolitan India: What is on your watchlist?
Varun Dhawan: Right now, The Summer I Turned Pretty and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
Cosmopolitan India: What are the characters you’ve played that are closest to your heart?
Varun Dhawan: Dan from October, Badri from Badrinath ki Dulhaniya, and Bhaskar from Bhediya, as he was really fun to play.
Cosmopolitan India: What advice would you give to your 18-year-old self?
Varun Dhawan: Do it all, and do more.
Cosmopolitan India: If you had a day to yourself to eat Mumbai street food, what would it be?
Varun Dhawan: Vada pav from outside Mithibai College, with extra masala.
Cosmopolitan India: What do you do during your time off?
Varun Dhawan: I try to learn the guitar, play PS4, watch some UFC videos, and play with Joey, my pet dog.

Cosmopolitan India: What’s on your playlist right now?
Varun Dhawan: Thumkeshwari, Apna Bana Le by Arijit Singh that is in Bhediya too, and I also love Watermelon Sugar [by Harry Styles] though I know it’s not new, and Jhoom [by Ali Zafar].
Cosmopolitan India: What does self-love mean to you?
Varun Dhawan: Taking care of yourself and getting a lot of sun so you can boost your serotonin levels—basically sun and the sea.
Cosmopolitan India: What would you rather have—breakfast for dinner or dinner for breakfast?
Varun Dhawan: Dinner for breakfast, for sure.
Cosmopolitan India: What stereotypes would you like to shatter with your Bollywood roles?
Varun Dhawan: That we’re not always cheesy!
