Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas Share the First Glimpse of Their Daughter, Malti Marie

American author Washington Irving once said, "A mother’s love endures through all." And, well, he wasn't at all wrong. The annual celebration of 'Mom' presents the perfect opportunity to give back to the woman who made you, literally and metaphorically. And on this special day this year, one of Bollywood's newest mums, Priyanka Chopra, took to social media to spell out her initial steps in the fulfilling albeit tumultuous journey of motherhood. 

"On this Mother’s Day, we can’t help but reflect on these last few months and the rollercoaster we’ve been on, which we now know so many people have also experienced," the couple confessed. "Every family’s journey is unique and requires a certain level of faith, and while ours was a challenging few months, what becomes abundantly clear, in retrospect, is how precious and perfect every moment is." 

The duo, who announced the birth of their firstborn via surrogacy back in January, were compelled to overcome a few hurdles before they could wholly enjoy the pleasures of parenthood. Their newborn reportedly arrived at 27 weeks, 12 weeks earlier than expected, and spent hundred days at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the Rady Children's Hospital, La Jolla and Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles.

While the celebrity parents chose not to disclose any details about their daughter until now, speculations regarding baby Chopra-Jonas' name began doing the rounds a couple of weeks ago. As per the birth certificate obtained from the hospital, the power couple named their little one Malti Marie Chopra Jonas—a rumour that the Matrix Resurrections star has confirmed in her Mother's Day Instagram post by referring to her offspring with the initials MM—an ode to their respective mothers' (Malti is Priyanka's mother's full name, 'Madhumalti' and Marie is Nick's mum's middle name, 'Denise Marie Jonas'). 

"Our next chapter begins now, and our baby is truly badass," PeeCee wrote while clasping her child close to her chest in the adorable photograph. In his Instagram post, Nick Jonas added a few words for his wife; "Babe, you inspire me in every way, and you are taking to this new role with such ease and steadiness. I am so grateful to be on this journey with you. You are already an incredible mother." 

From Bollywood mums, Anushka Sharma to Dia Mirza, a slew of celebrities took to the comments to congratulate the couple and celebrate the strength and resilience they demonstrated over the initial, tough few weeks of parenthood. Priyanka ended her note by saying, "Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers and caretakers in my life and out there. You make it look so easy."
