From recent fashion events, entertainment announcements, and tech innovations, there has been a bustle of different stories making waves in various cultures. From Hollywood to Bollywood, we have with us different topics that are sparking up conversations across these mixed industries. Well, nobody asked but let's still just keep you informed about all the things coming around.

Pageant Drama

Hawaii’s Savannah Gankiewicz has been crowned Miss USA 2023 weeks after Noelia Voigt resigned from the title. Miss Teen USA UmaSofia Srivastava followed suit, while the runner-up Stephanie Skinner also refused to keep the crown, post Srivastava’s departure. The former Miss USA and Miss Teen USA’s mothers alleged that mistreatment and bullying by the pageant organisation led to their daughters resigning from their roles. It’s like their dream gigs turned into an unexpected ordeal.

It's a leap in high-fashion

When Schiaparelli enters the conversation, sneakers are probably the last thing that comes to mind—it is like getting Lana Del Rey and Taylor Swift to jam on a song together, or so we thought. The couture label—under the helm of Daniel Roseberry—is now dipping its toes into ready-to-wear with its first-ever pair of kicks. Roseberry defines the sneaker as an amalgamation of his Americanism and Parisian chic. He calls it “the fantasy of couture made for the street”.

Into the future

NASA has appointed David Salvagnini as its first chief Artificial Intelligence (AI) officer. Salvagnini joined the organisation in June 2023 and previously served as its chief data officer. Bill Nelson, the chief of the space agency, expressed confidence in Salvagnini’s leadership, stating that he will spearhead the agency’s endeavours to ensure the ethical and beneficial deployment of AI—both in space and on earth—for the betterment of humanity.

Smell like Bella Hadid

Supermodel Bella Hadid debuted her fragrance line, Ôrebella, pronounced “aura-bella”, amid rumours of her quitting modelling. It’s the market’s first alcohol-free, essential oil-based perfume. Inspired by her Palestinian and Arab heritage, the line’s three scents—Window2Soul, Blooming Fire, and Salted Muse—reflect different aspects of her life. For instance, Salted Muse, with sea salt and olive oil notes, pays homage to her roots.

Multitasking's never been easier

Work smarter, not harder, with OpenAI’s GPT-4o—the ultimate multitasking maestro, designed to handle text, speech, and video with unparalleled finesse. Picture this—you are juggling a million tasks, and just when you think you’re about to drown in the chaos, along comes GPT-4o, swooping in like a digital superhero to save the day. Sure, the robots might be eyeing our jobs, our lives, and maybe even our souls, but hey, at least they’re making our lives easier for now.

From the river to the sea

In a world where many celebs often dodge the tough topics, American rapper Macklemore is showing the world how to be on the right side of history with his newest single, Hind’s Hall—demanding a liberated Palestine. He rhymes, “The blood is on your hands, Biden, we can see it all/And fuck no, I’m not voting for you in the fall.” But Macklemore’s not stopping with the bars; he’s putting his money where his mouth is. Tweeting his promise, he’s pledging all proceeds to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees.

From big screen to small

Something must be in the air because two major Hollywood movies have recently teased their prequel series! First off, there’s Dune: Part Two’s spin-off series Dune: Prophecy—we hadn’t even recovered from Dune: Part Two yet and there is already a series in the making. The latter will feature India’s very own Tabu in a recurring role as Sister Francesca. Meanwhile, Reese Witherspoon’s dream project, Elle, brings a Legally Blonde prequel to Amazon Prime. Brace yourself for a wave of nostalgia and fresh adventures!
