Dearest reader, Lady Whistledown is coming back with Bridgerton season 3. Here are the deets!

If you are one of those people (like me) who binge-watched Netflix’s Bridgerton, chances are that you’ve been waiting for the third season to release ASAP. Well, the wait is not over yet but we’ve come bearing good news! Netflix has dropped quite a few insights at the end of Tudum video featurette on what to expect from the show and it looks like it’s going to get even more intriguing. 

In the video, Nicola Coughlan (Penelope Featherington aka Lady Whistledown) read out from the script of the upcoming season and we already have the opening and title of the first episode and more. 
Here is the opening of Episode 301 (narrated by Lady Whistledown, obviously), which is titled ‘Out of the Shadows’:

Dearest gentle reader,

We’ve been apart for far too long. At last, London’s smart set has made its return, and so too has this author. As the season begins, the question on everyone’s mind, of course, is, which newly minted debutante will shine the brightest. The crop this year proves to be rather dazzling indeed. Unfortunately, not every young lady can attract the light.

While the entire first two seasons Penelope has been the most invisible character in the beautiful chaos that the families in Regency London, this season will put her love story with Colin in the forefront. Is that what the title of the first episode signifies? Or is it the revelation of her identity as Eloise finds out in the previous season? Either way, we know Bridgerton’s third season is set to intrigue from the get-go. 

In fact, we have more deets! A little birdie says Penelope decides to stop waiting for Colin to really see her and is now in the pursuit of a husband, with whom she can continue being independent as she is. Colin, disheartened by her cold demeanour tries to win her friendship back by helping her with the same. And amidst all of this, he is forced to question whether what he feels for Penelope is pure friendship or more.

You will also see some new faces such as Daniel Francis, Sam Phillips and James Phoon in the Bridgerton season 3. 

While the making of the season is underway, it is likely to release in the spring or summer of 2023.
