The pandemic forced us to slow down and be conscious of the way we live life. Like they say ‘all work and no play, makes Jack a dull boy’. Don’t be like Jack, send in that leave application asap because there is a long weekend coming up and we have got a plethora of getaways you can choose from. Spend the weekend sipping beer by the beach or gazing scenic views in a location nestled away from the world or practising yoga and rejuvenating yourself.

Tooth Mountain Farms, Karjat

Just a three-hour drive away from the bustling city of Mumbai is a little oasis. Focused on sustainable living, this property boasts multiple stunning rooms with lake and garden views. They organise nature trials and hikes and boast of a wellness centre as well. Their 60-seat café, a farm-to-table set-up, is situated amid their organic farms and boasts a huge lawn for banquets and parties.

Coco Shambhala, Sindhudurg

Sindhudurg, a verdant district located along the west coast of India, is the perfect getaway destination for friends or family. It is known for its pristine beaches, dense vegetation, and picturesque views. Coco Shambhala is home to four bespoke villas, each with a beach view and an infinity pool. Villas Arka, Amresha, Inaya, and Varneya can accommodate up to twenty people together, making this the perfect place for a mini-holiday with a large group.

Cabo Serai, Goa

If we need to settle the debate between south Goa and north Goa, Cabo Serai would be the reason we would head southward. Located on a private hill, but not too far from the beach, this eco-resort spreads across 14 acres at a height that allows for the most gorgeous panoramic views. This property has both luxury villas and tents, and they embrace the philosophy of ‘barefoot luxury’. Thanks to the secluded location, guests can enjoy exclusive dining experiences like a candlelit dinner under the stars or a breakfast by the sea.

Oleander Farms, Karjat

Not too far from Mumbai, Oleander Farms is the perfect weekend resort stay. It spans over 180 acres of lush greenery and provides everything one would dream of on a holiday—a swimming pool, a stunning restaurant, and a lot more. Its restaurant, ‘Saltt’, has been immensely popular since it opened its doors, so much so that people from the city head to it in large numbers for just a meal. Its menu has something for every palate. The property also has Karjat’s first craft brewery, wine tasting room, a nursery, a coffee house, and many other facilities. Rest assured, you will not have a single dull moment here.

Fort Tiracol Heritage Hotel, Goa

Goa, once inhabited, by the Portuguese, is peppered with multiple forts from the time. Fort Tiracol, built in the 16th century, has been converted into a luxury heritage hotel. You can marvel at the historic architecture as you step into the central courtyard, which houses a 17th-century church. Due to its strategic location, you get views of both the Tiracol River and the Arabian Sea. Set on the northernmost tip, it creates a sanctuary but is not too far away from the ever-happening Ashvem and Baga beaches.

Le Sutra and Le Arc at Anglo Indian, Lonavala

Nestled in the lush valleys of Lonavala and just a short drive away from Mumbai and Pune, villas Le Sutra and Le Arc at Anglo Indian make for the perfect place to unwind over the weekend. Both offer sweeping views of the hills that turn a soothing green during this time of the year, and are kitted with a swimming pool, a spa, among other amenities. While there, dig into a comforting spread at the Anglo Indian Cafe & Bistro, which includes classics like railway mutton curry, fish moily, and chicken stew among others.

The Elephant Passage, Munnar

This mountain resort is truly paradise on earth. Away from the hustle and bustle of the city lies this resort, surrounded by lush greenery. The air you breathe will be cleaner and cooler, thanks to the dense forests around. It is an ideal place to rejuvenate and re-centre yourself. Take a dip in the swimming pool, relish a meal at the café or a multicuisine restaurant, or laze in the property with your paw-friend (yes, it is pet-friendly). You can also enjoy activities such as trekking, clay art, yoga, cooking demonstrations, mehendi art, etc within the premises.

Mountain Shadows, Kerala

Known as the ‘Wonderland of South India’, Mountain Shadows is located three kilometres inside a forest in Wayanad. It has something for everyone, whether it is a couple on their honeymoon or a young group of friends. It boasts an Ayurvedic spa, an infinity pool, and a recreation centre with game set-ups for table tennis, board games, etc. The most unique feature of this hotel, in my opinion, is the tea shop, Thattukada.
