Spooky szn is here, and it's time to lock down your Halloween look for the Halloweekend. Sure, you could go classic with a witch hat or cute cat ears, but this year’s pop culture has served up some unforgettable moments that make for epic costume inspos. Whether you're channelling the year's biggest icons or playing with the trends that defined 2024, there’s no shortage of ideas to make sure your costume steals the spotlight.

The idea of any sort of costume or theme party will always bring in so much excitement. Just the thought of being someone else (or someone you aspire to be) for one night ought to be wild and crazy. To make the most of this opportunity, we’ve skimmed through this year’s and the previous year's best costumes to give you 10 outfit ideas whether you’re trick or treating solo, in a gang or with your partner:

Taylor Swift

With Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour capturing global attention in 2024, her costumes are not only fashionable but also iconic, making them easily recognizable and a perfect choice for Halloween. Combine elements from multiple eras to create a unique hybrid costume that represents different phases of Taylor’s career. For example, pair the Red-era fedora with a Lover-era sparkly top. Bring the look to life with props like a glittery microphone, a guitar, or a fake journal. Don’t disappoint the swifties by not winging the eyeliner and the red lip!

Bridgerton

Earlier this year, the gram went crazy over Netflix’s highly-rated Bridgerton. If you’ve been one of those obsessed with the last season, rent out a couple of ball gowns because it will be a royal evening for you. This works especially well if you want to party hopping with your girls.

Victoria’s Secret Angels

Having recently made a comeback on the runway, the angels from Victoria’s Secret have resurfaced on the internet. This also inspired TikTok to start a Halloween costume trend inspired by the Victoria’s Secret Angels with lacey, feathery lingerie and patent satin cover-ups. Not forgetting the most important part of the outfit - the wings! Have fun with this one, and tailor it to your preferences.

Beetlejuice

The eerie Beetlejuice look has been a staple in the books of Halloween costumes since the late 1900s. The iconic characters and outfits, such as the signature pinstripe costume and messy green wig worn are hard to miss. Expect to see more Beetlejuice than ever this year thanks to horror comedy’s sequel Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. People of all ages and genders can recreate this look, even your dog! It’s always fun to bring back the OGs with a twist.

Sabrina Carpenter

This year also belongs to Sabrina Carpenter and her very catchy music albums. One signature style in particular, the heart-shaped cut-out look with lacy garters and matching knee-high boots has become a uniform of sorts on tour. We'd say it's quite important to nail the golden locks and curtain bangs with a good wig, and nude matte makeup. Alternatively, you can also DIY the cutout on the dress and bejewel it yourself.

The Bear

If you, like us, have loved the frantic and chaotic seasons of The Bear nothing should stop you from recreating the simplest outfits from the show. Nail Carmy's iconic chef style with his signature white tee, tattooed arms, and a perfectly dishevelled, overworked vibe. Don’t forget the classic apron, messy hair, and that slightly stressed look of a culinary genius in the making. Remember, you're not just wearing a costume; you’re serving up intensity and attitude, chef-style!

Emily in Paris Season 4

Emily in Paris has become a fan-favourite, and the two-part fourth season didn't disappoint with its drama and eye-catching fashion. One of Emily’s looks was the striped catsuit she wore to a masquerade ball, which is so costume-worthy and replicable with the mask, the gigantic hat and the whole retro vibe going. In fact any Emily outfit will be a winner with the quintessential beret hat and a colour-blocking co-ord, if you’re into the show.

Moira Rose

There are TONS of iconic Moira ensembles to choose from, from the binge-worthy sitcom Schitt’s Creek. But just in case you can’t pick one look that you’d want to recreate, just know that you can't go wrong with faux fur, leather, biker gloves and, of course, as many feathers as possible. Once you make sure your all-black ensemble is in place, all the Moira energy will flow.

Nicole Kidman

This Halloween, channel the many eras of Nicole Kidman—complete with iconic costumes and blonde wigs. Consider recreating her look from A Family Affair for a chic vintage vibe, or go bold with any ensemble from the Babygirl trailer for a trendy pop-culture nod. However, if you're aiming for elegance, go for Kidman’s beachy style in The Perfect Couple—think a flowing blue gown paired effortlessly with a cosy cardigan for that windswept, coastal aesthetic.
