The Cannes Film Festival is known for delivering *bold* red carpet looks as Hollywood's greatest descend on the South of France for two weeks of film promo. From voluminous princess ball gowns to barely-there naked dresses and everything in between, already this year Dua Lipa has wowed in a backless cutout dress while Irina Shayk stepped out in a teeny tiny leather bra top and very low-rise matching skirt. And can we take a minute for Elle Fanning's Paco Rabanne party dress? Trust us when we say you have to see it to believe it.

Well, you can add Jennifer Lawrence to the list of stars pulling out all the stops with stunning red carpet looks. The actress wore two insane 'fits in one day yesterday, opting for a chic and minimal dress before changing into a more dramatic red gown. Talk about endless style inspo.

Let's break it down. J Law first sported a grey Dior knit dress for the red carpet photocall of Bread and Roses, a documentary Jennifer produced that explores the lives of three Afghan women in Kabul following the takeover of the Taliban. The chic design featured a high neck and flowed effortlessly to the floor, but the back of the dress was a different story. An open back revealed multi-strap tie detailing as well as a shirred panel around J Law's waist. Jen wore her hair up in a loose, low bun to show off the back of the dress, while diamond earrings from Alison Lou (the same jeweller who designed her engagement ring), a silver watch, and strappy silver-heeled sandals completed the look.

It was then time for the premiere of Anatomy of a Fall and another red carpet moment. Jen opted for a second Dior number, this time an insane red gown with a fitted bodice that flared into a full skirt and train. The square neckline featured a ruffled panel at the front, and Jen added a simple squiggle diamond choker necklace so as not to distract. She added a shawl in the same fabric worn draped around her arms that added to the sweeping statement of her gown. We are here for a red carpet look that brings the drama.

However, in a controversial move, J Law paired the princess-style ball gown with a pair of black flip-flops. The film festival has a long-standing, though unofficial, rule that women must wear heels. Something Jen clearly chose to ignore, and who can blame her for prioritising comfort? We stan a relatable queen. And we reckon Kristen Stewart would be proud too, remember when the actress kicked off her heels on the Cannes red carpet back in 2018 and made endless headlines?

Here's hoping for more stand-out and rebellious looks from J Law.
