Fashion collaborations are like the crossovers we never knew we needed—until they happened. They’re the ultimate culture clash, giving us unexpected moments that stop the timeline (and traffic). Over the years, some partnerships have become the stuff of legends, leaving us both obsessed and absolutely broke. But even among the never-ending sea of collabs, there are a select few that are impossible to forget. These are the ones that didn’t just make a splash but left a lasting mark on fashion and culture.
Here are five fashion collaborations that live in my head rent-free, forever serving high fashion, drama, and all the feels.
Louis Vuitton x Supreme (2017)
It’s hard to mention iconic collabs without thinking of the moment Louis Vuitton and Supreme dropped their collection. This was when streetwear fully infiltrated luxury fashion—and we were all here for it. The classic LV monogram teamed up with the bold red Supreme logo to create a high-fashion flex that had Hypebeasts and fashion editors lined up alike. I mean, who would’ve thought the luxury French fashion house would ever play nice with a skate brand? This collection became the ultimate status symbol, from the hoodies and tees to the monogrammed trunks, living rent-free in my mind—and many closets—ever since.
Gucci x Balenciaga "The Hacker Project" (2021)
When two of the most influential luxury houses of the 21st century decide to swap wardrobes, it’s bound to break the internet. Gucci x Balenciaga’s Hacker Project was part fashion experiment, part love letter to high fashion absurdity. Think Balenciaga’s oversized tailoring with Gucci’s iconic double-G print and Gucci’s vintage-inspired silhouettes with Balenciaga’s razor-sharp edginess. It was a fever dream that screamed, “We know you’re going to obsess over this, and you will.” This wasn't just a collab; it was a flex that continues to serve us with memes and runway moments that are burned into our memory banks.
Fendi x Fila (2018)
If there was a pop culture Venn diagram that encompassed ‘90s nostalgia, sportswear, and Italian luxury, the centre would be the Fendi x Fila collab. Debuted during Milan Fashion Week, this collection made us question everything we thought we knew about high fashion and athleisure. Fendi’s high-end craftsmanship met Fila’s retro athletic aesthetic in a blend of monograms and logomania. The result? Sports bras, tracksuits, and oversized jackets gave us all the "I’m running errands, but make it fashion" vibes we never knew we needed.
Dior x Nike Air Jordan 1 (2020)
A Dior-ified Jordan? Yes, please. When Dior partnered with Nike to create the limited edition Air Jordan 1 OG Dior, sneakerheads and luxury fashion lovers alike lost their collective minds. This sleek grey and white sneaker, with the Dior logo embroidered into the swoosh, felt like the perfect marriage between street style and couture. Unsurprisingly, it was an instant sell-out!
Prada x Adidas (2019)
Prada + Adidas was the ultimate blend of sleek Italian luxury with retro sports vibes. The clean lines of Adidas’ iconic Superstar sneakers combined with Prada’s minimalistic finesse created a collab so fresh it deserves a museum exhibit. If you ever needed a reason to wear sneakers with everything, this was it. The classic white shoe with Prada’s branding felt so right, bringing a sense of “luxury but make it low-key” to street style.
These collaborations are proof that when luxury fashion meets street style, magic happens. We may not always get our hands on these pieces, but they will live in our minds (and Pinterest boards) forever!
