This probably won’t come as much of a shock to you, but Beyoncé and Jay-Z are very rich. Like, “I swim around in literal pools of money” rich.

But have you ever taken a moment to daydream about just how much money Bey and Jay have in their bank accounts? Because it’s more than a billion. That’s billion with a B. For Beyoncé, of course. Which, again, most likely doesn’t shock you considering Beyoncé topped record books last year as the most awarded female artist in Grammys history after she took home her 28th (!!) award. And Jay’s decades-long music—and business—career is anything but shabby.

Let’s break down where all their money comes from, including Beyoncé’s net worth, plus her combined fortune with Jay-Z. But first, proof of those pools of money I was talking about:

Their Album and Single Sales

Beyoncé is the big winner when it comes to single sales, having (so far!) made $26 million in digital singles, while her husband has earned “just” $17.5 million. Aw. But Jay trumps Bey when it comes to album sales: He’s made an impressive $27.5 million, while Beyoncé’s made $15 million.

If you’re surprised to learn that Jay’s album sales exceed Beyoncé’s, consider the fact that his biggest hits came out well before digital streaming was really a *thing*—meaning it was more common for people to pay for full albums. But that’s just a theory.

P.S. We also can’t forget about the money Beyoncé made from her time as part of Destiny’s Child! Sure, she was splitting earnings with Kelly and Michelle, but it’s still fair to assume she made a lot of $$.

Their Tours

Bey and Jay’s On the Run II Tour grossed $250 million—and that’s only the beginning. Their first (much shorter) On the Run Tour grossed $95 million. Jay’s 2017 4:44 Tour grossed $48.7 million, and Beyoncé’s Formation World Tour was *the* highest-grossing tour of 2016, earning $256 million. Like…HOW DOES THAT MUCH MONEY EVEN EXIST ON PLANET EARTH? BRB, taking a moment to fan myself:

Fun fact: Beyoncé reportedly made more than $3 million for her appearance at Coachella in 2018. Her set lasted 105 minutes. By my (highly advanced) calculations, that means she earned $28,571.43 per minute!

Beyoncé’s Merch

Remember when Beyoncé and her mom, Tina Knowles, started House of Deréon? Well, sadly, that stylish venture is no more, but Bey’s fashion bug rose from the ashes like a phoenix and gifted the world Ivy Park! Her debut collection nearly sold out the second it hit Topshop, and her most recent Adidas collections have also been insanely popular—so Beyoncé undoubtedly took home a hefty profits. Oh, and speaking of profits, lest you forget Bey also launched her own perfume line back in the day. As of 2013, she’d sold $400 million worth of fragrance. (Wouldn’t you pay serious $$ to smell like Beyoncé?)

Psst: Yes, you can still get items with Bey’s latest Ivy Park drop with Adidas, but if you're wanting something a little ~more niche~ fear not, you can buy merch straight from her site:

Bey’s Endorsements

These days, Beyoncé and Jay-Z are kiiinda too cool for your basic celebrity sponcon (the moment I see Beyoncé use an #ad hashtag is the moment I give up), but Bey still has plenty of endorsements under her belt. She’s worked with brands like Tommy Hilfiger and Armani, and who can forget that $50 million deal she had with Pepsi, which she inked in 2012?

The only thing that could put that Pepsi deal to shame is Bey and Jay's 2021 partnership with Tiffany & Co. for its "About Love" campaign, where Beyoncé is wearing the brand's iconic 128-carat yellow diamond. Needless to say if Tiffany's dug out the big diamonds for this, they probably dished out the mega-big bucks for Bey and Jay too.

Bey’s Movies

Beyoncé has starred in multiple movies (ahem, the Lion King, anyone?), most of which were produced by studios that don’t disclose salary information. But based on reports that Jamie Foxx’s salary for Dreamgirls was in the multimillions, we can expect that Beyoncé made a boatload of money too.

One thing we do know about Bey’s film salary though? Netflix agreed to pay her a whopping $60 million for three projects—including Homecoming!

Tidal and Roc Nation

Kay, this is where the real money comes into play. Jay-Z bought Tidal for $56 million, and back in 2018, Forbes reported that it was worth $600 million. But, uh, nowadays? Forbes just reported that Jay-Z’s net worth jumped 40 percent thanks to selling a majority stake in Tidal for $297 million. According to the outlet, Jay netted out $149 million in cash and stock.

So yeah, he earned a LOT from that particular investment. Oh, and Bey also owns part of Tidal and ingeniously made Lemonade exclusively available on the platform, prompting people like yours truly to sign up. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

All of Jay-Z’s Projects

1. In addition to Tidal, Jay-Z runs Roc Nation and Roc Nation Sports. Oh, and we can’t forget his clothing company Rocawear, which raked in $700 million before he sold it for $204 million. (Also, this is a Jay-centric section, but it should be noted that Bey still runs management company Parkwood Entertainment!)

2. He owns a restaurant chain called the 40/40 Club.

3. He owns a fancy champagne called Armand de Brignac, which Forbes reports he sold 50 percent of in a deal that values the liquor company at around $640 million.

Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s Total Net Worth

Okay, so things have changed since we last discussed their net worth in 2018. At the time, Bey’s was $355 million and Jay-Z’s was $900 million, making their combined net worth more than $1 billion. But now?

As of August 2021, Forbes reports that Beyonce is worth $440 million, while Jay-Z is worth $1.4 billion (thanks in part to those Tidal/champs sales!). Jay’s ~portfolio~ includes $425 million in investments, $320 million in Armand de Brignac, $140 million in Roc Nation, $120 million in his cognac brand D’Usse, and a music catalog worth $95 million. Meanwhile, his and Beyoncé’s art collection is worth $70 million and they have $50 million in real estate.

So…*does quick math*…together, they’re sitting on a total of ~$1.8 billion.

Allow me to write that again in a bigger font:

~$1.8 BILLION

I’m not okay!
