5 Celebrities Confess How Bollywood is Unfair to Female Actors

With our country making phenomenal progress in every sector, you would like to believe that we are gradually getting rid of all the vices which existed in the society. Which is true, no denying it.

However, sexism is still a thing and is very much a part of the sad reality of our culture. Traces of which are being felt and discussed even in a progressive industry like Bollywood. Our leading ladies are making remarkable name in the International film fraternity, but still anyone, and everyone who tries to raise their voice against the sexism prevailing here, is baselessly labelled a wanna-be feminist, most of the time.

Five women, who happen to belong to this industry, have opened up about the humiliating experiences they have had.

1. Jacqueline Fernandez

"When I had first come here, I was told by so many people, 'Listen, just look good. Just work on how you're looking, work on your styling, work on your body, on your looks. You don't have to worry about anything else."

2. Priyanka Chopra

"When I was told at a very young age, 'ladkiyaan toh interchangeable hoti hain filmo mein, agar dusri heroine nhi mili, toh nayi ladki launch karlenge, kya farak padta hai.' I made my career what it is, because I had something telling me that I will not be replaceable."

3. Anushka Sharma

"I swear to God, it's like, even if it's an outdoor schedule, you know that the guy is going to get a better room than you."

4. Richa Chadda

" I got a random call, from a random casting director, who hadn't even seen Gangs, we were still shooting. They called me to play, something really ridiculous... Hrithik Roshan's mother in Agneepath! And I said, 'Do you know what I look like?' And he said, 'Humne suna hai aap Nawaz ki mummy ka role kar rahe ho...' I was like, Oh my god!"

5. Sonam Kapoor

"Still as a woman in this industry, I don't get my price. For example, John Abraham and Varun Dhawan, the kind of money they got, to make Dishoom, is way more than what Kareena and I were getting to make Veere Di Wedding, which is really sad and heart-breaking. It is a patriarchal society, and there is a lot of sexism, which is disgusting."
